Médecin adjointe agrégée

La Dre Fabienne Picard est médecin adjointe dans l’Unité d’épileptologie du Service de neurologie des HUG, et professeure associée à la Faculté de médecine de l’Université de Genève depuis septembre 2019. Elle a suivi sa formation de médecine et de spécialiste en neurologie à l’Université Louis Pasteur de Strasbourg en France, où elle a également obtenu un Diplôme d’études approfondies (DEA) en biologie cellulaire et moléculaire (équivalent de master). 

Au niveau clinique, elle s’implique ces dernières années dans le projet Première crise mis en place en mai 2021 aux HUG et permettant une hospitalisation immédiate et un bilan complet précoce suite à une suspicion de première crise épileptique (avec EEG de veille et sommeil et IRM cérébrale). 

Entre autres fonctions, elle est responsable depuis 2017 de la cellule médicaments (Commission des médicaments) pour le Département des neurosciences cliniques des HUG, membre de l’Instance de discipline médecine clinique de la Bibliothèque de l’Université de Genève / site Centre médical universitaire, et membre du board de la Ligue suisse contre l’épilepsie depuis 2021.

Ses intérêts principaux de recherche ont été la génétique des épilepsies focales familiales, avec un intérêt particulier pour les récepteurs nicotiniques cérébraux, et plus récemment l’épilepsie focale dite extatique, pour laquelle elle a amené de nouvelles connaissances avec mise en évidence de l’implication majeure de l’insula antérieure. Elle a pu ainsi étayer le rôle de l’insula dans la conscience de soi. Certains de ses travaux ont été soutenus par le Fonds national suisse. 

Elle a publié plus d’une centaine d’articles dans des journaux à politique éditoriale.
