Les recherches au sein du Service des mesures institutionnelles (SMI) concernent en premier lieu la neurobiologie de l’empathie et visent à comprendre les circuits cérébraux impliqués dans le processus de détection et d’appréciation des émotions d’autrui mais aussi à définir leurs altérations éventuelles dans les cas de transgression pénale.

Un autre volet de recherche orienté soins concerne l’identification des déterminants de la réponse clinique à la thérapie forensique.
