FEEDING THE MICROBIOTA: 3rd Symposium GE-VD

-
There is an increasing interest in the gut-brain communication. The microbiota of the digestive tract likely modulates this communication, either directly or through the secretion of metabolites.
It is therefore tempting to hypothesize that nutrition plays an essential but yet poorly identified role in neuro-hormonal pathways originating from the gut. These pathways may be involved not only in behaviour and the control of food intake but also in the occurrence of neurological diseases.
A better understanding of the association between nutrition and gut microbiota could open up new preventive and therapeutic options for chronic diseases
