The gynecological check-up is an important appointment, because it lets you and your doctor focus on your gynecological health and discuss:

Nipples

Should I wash my nipples before each feeding?

It is not necessary to wash your nipples before breastfeeding; however, it is very important to wash your hands before each feeding. Hand hygiene, one shower per day is enough for breasts. After feeding, spread a drop of milk on the nipples.

 

Do I need to prepare my nipples during pregnancy?

No preparation of the nipples is recommended

Mastitis

Mastitis is inflammation of the mammary glands or breast tissues.

These are the signs of mastitis:

  • sensitivity in a specific area of the breast
  • hot, red area on the breast
  • general feeling of being unwell
  • symptoms similar to those of the flu
  • fever

Sore breasts

A breast abscess is a collection of pus that develops in the breast.

It is characterized by intense pain, fever, heat and a red lump as well as tenderness in the breast.

If you notice any of these symptoms, consult your gynecologist quickly.
