Research and Teaching

The Center's mission is to organize and promote multidisciplinary postgraduate training in medical genetics.

In order to promote research and exchanges between specialists, it wants to develop anetwork of doctors and biologists at HUG who are particularly involved in genetic medicine. Establishing a monthly multidisciplinary seminar will contribute to these exchanges as well as joint projects in clinical research.

Its mission is also to implement clinical research protocols.

Genetic Medicine


Mission of the Genetic Medicine Division

  • Provides the population with high quality and state-of-the-art clinical counseling service and laboratory services in genetic diagnosis while being aware of analyses provided by other divisions of HUG.
  • Provide internal and external laboratory services useful for the care of outpatient and hospitalized patients by taking into account services offered by other divisions of HUG, particularly the Genetic Medicine Division and the Legal Medicine Institute.
  • These services, that include analyses and all areas of laboratory medicine, are used by care personnel to ensure the diagnosis, prognosis, therapeutic monitoring, prediction and/or the prevention of diseases.
