Promoting Innovation

Logo pour la société

The HUG pursue innovation, excellence and performance in all their fields of activity, whether it be clinical, research or teaching. They work to maintain and develop their national and international reputation, particularly in key cutting-edge fields.

Valuing employees' creativity

Keenly aware of the wealth of talent hidden among their employees, the HUG have implemented various actions to promote innovation within the institution, encouraging ideas from each employee, supporting innovators with their initiatives, and developing innovative solutions for patients.

In particular, an innovation office was established back in 2009, which reports directly to management. Since then, the office has received and reviewed over 100 invention proposals. It assisted their creators, in collaboration with the UNITEC office of technology and skills transfer, resulting in the filing of 48 patent families and the creation of 8 startups. In 2015, three patents were filed and four patent families were commercialised.

Innovation Cafés

Innovation cafés are held six times a year during lunch breaks and are open to all employees. They provide excellent opportunities to get acquainted with innovative projects and to discuss the process from idea to commercialisation, including ethical, technological and economic concerns.

 journée de l’innovation

Innovation Day

An Innovation Day, held each year at the HUG, has met with growing enthusiasm. The projects are presented orally or using posters and the most promising among them are awarded a prize in order to facilitate their implementation. For people inside the company, this day generates healthy competition and a strong incentive. And in the eyes of external parties, including economic players looking for innovative projects, it is a window into the creative potential and business opportunities on offer, as evidenced by the number of patents.
