A new development with the latest Da Vinci

In western Switzerland, the first next-generation Da Vinci robot (Xi model) was installed at the HUG. Compared to the SI model, this robot provides many technical advances in terms of mobility and finesse of intervention.

Launched at the HUG in 2006, with the acquisition of the first Da Vinci, robotic surgery has begun a new era. More than 1900 robotic procedures were performed in visceral, urological, gynaecological, thoracic and ENT surgery, without any complications or incidents.

It is worth remembering that the robot is fully controlled by the surgeon. Compared to conventional laparoscopic surgery, this more intricate technology reduces postoperative complications and improves the quality of sutures.
