The benefits of an "error room"

To strengthen training, the HUG pharmacy came up with the idea of setting up a fictitious patient bedroom containing errors related to the preparation and administration of injectable drugs. At the same time, an e-learning module was developed based on research.

To assess the effect of this training on people's ability to detect errors, an experiment was carried out with nursing and pharmacy students. It consisted of going into the error room a first time, then doing the e-learning course, before returning to the room a second time. The result? The e-learning significantly improved error detection, particularly in terms of the administration.

This pilot project was recognized at the Quality Day.
