Monitoring in the operating room

The Nadine de Rothschild Foundation has provided a neuromonitoring device in the operating room for paediatric surgery.

An important asset for intraoperative monitoring, neuromonitoring tests the sensitivity and motor functions of the patient throughout an operation. Although this technology has been used at the HUG for the past 30 years, the acquisition of this equipment dedicated to the children is extremely exciting. Specially used in operations for scoliosis and neurosurgery, this technique is on the rise. Research is opening up new paths and is now exploring how to monitor hearing and vision. In the near future, it seems possible that we will also be able to monitor the areas of language and olfaction.
