Head of Division

The Thoracic and Endocrine Surgery Division fulfills several teaching missions.

Undergraduate education

This includes future medical students, as well as those studying any professions related to the health field, such as nurses, physical therapists, and others.

As part of the Faculty of Medicine, the Thoracic and Endocrine Surgery Division participates in teaching surgery during the second and third years of medical school and, together with the other divisions in the Surgery Department, manages the Clinical Environment Education [apprentissage en milieu clinique (AMC)] in surgery during the fourth and fifth years.

Postgraduate education

This is aimed at future specialists in surgery and thoracic surgery. It is therefore particularly important to ensure university recruitment and to guarantee high-quality surgery.

Teaching is based on the daily activity of the Division, case presentations and discussions, multidisciplinary symposia, the Journal club that allows students to follow the literature and discuss topics related to research, and consultations with senior doctors.

Continuing education

Organized in the form of symposia and various training courses, the continuing education provided by the Thoracic and Endocrine Surgery Division is aimed at all health professionals, including established doctors.

A significant part of these continuing education seminars are organized in collaboration with the CHUV and the Valais Hospitals within the framework of the Swiss Francophone University Center for Thoracic Surgery [Centre Universitaire Romand de Chirurgie Thoracique (CURCT)].
