Responsible Purchasing Policy

The purchasing policy of the Purchasing and Biomedical Engineering Center (CAIB) must contribute to facilitate the availability of products and services that are human and environmentally friendly. Aware of the environmental, economic and social challenges our planet is facing, CAIB is developing and applying, in the context of its activities, a responsible purchasing policy in line with sustainable development (SD) principles. It is also in line with HUG's environmental management and the CHUV's promotion of SD. It is consistent with Agenda 21 of the Cantons of Vaud and Geneva and is part of the SD strategy of the Swiss Confederation.

A responsible or sustainable purchase is one that respects the human being, takes environmental protection requirements into account and is compatible with economic constraints by seeking efficiency, quality improvement and overall cost optimization, in the short, medium and long term. It thus contributes to meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
