Remembrance Ceremony

For parents, relatives and caregivers who have lost a child or baby (before or after birth).

Remembrance CeremonySometimes the words cannot be found to talk about the loss of a loved one. It is good to move forward. Sometimes it is good to stop. It is sweet to remember.

Every year in March, HUG holds a ceremony of remembrance for families, loved ones and caregivers faced with the death of a baby or child. This secular commemoration is open to all religions, beliefs and convictions. Members of health care teams, representatives of various aid and support associations for the bereaved and chaplains are present to welcome, listen and support participants.

Remembrance CeremonyThe ceremony, lasting around an hour, begins with storytelling. Its highlight is a symbolic ritual, varying from year to year, which gives everyone the opportunity to accomplish a gesture to the memory of the one who departed too soon. The end of the story closes the session. "Telling a story is to put into words the emotions that shake humans," says the storyteller Alix Noble-Burnand.

Everyone is then invited to a time of sharing and fellowship, with refreshments.

Testimonial "In the end, I'm just going to say THANK YOU"

"A big thank you for this beautiful sharing we experienced. I was looking for "special" words but in the end, I'm just going to say THANK YOU.
I am the mother of a stillborn boy and it is through the Kaly association that I saw that you organize this ceremony. I came from another Canton with my mother, three acquaintances who have experienced the same situation as me (more than ten years ago), and the mother of one of these acquaintances. We enjoyed our trip and this moment of sharing was magical. The tree as a symbol could not be better (…).
Once again THANK YOU for this wonderful time of sharing."
