Cancer Center

Mission

The Cancer Center was created in 2012 as one of the HUG Centers of Excellence. Its mission is to respond to the needs of all persons affected by cancer, for its prevention, its diagnosis and its treatment. This is a cross-disciplinary facility that encompasses different activities, units and medical divisions connected to different departments. It coordinates all care, services and stakeholders, in order to ensure that each patient receives the best care possible, based on a multidisciplinary and coordinated approach to care and a personalized treatment pathway.

In order to guarantee that patients receive high-quality diagnoses and to be able to offer optimal therapeutic strategies for each type of cancer, the Cancer Center has set up and it coordinates a set of programs (FR). Within these programs are teams of dedicated multidisciplinary experts working together, using cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art therapeutic approaches. Its mission is to offer specialized, coordinated and rapid care for patients and to ensure, within HUG, a personalized treatment pathway for each and every patient. The Cancer Center also coordinates centers that are specialized in treating specific cancers: the Breast Cancer Center and the Prostate Cancer Center. The mission of the specialized centers is to provide and organize the best care at each step in the treatment pathway.

Thanks to the Clinical Oncology-Hematology Research Unit of the Dr. Henri Dubois-Ferrière Dinu Lipatti (DFDL) Foundation, coordinated by the Cancer Center and located at the very heart of the hospital, patients can have access to highly innovative treatments.
