In order to counter the Ebola epidemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) has established a programme to fast-track human trials of two vaccines that have proven effective in animals. WHO and HUG are collaborating to launch one of the first clinical trials of the "VSV-ZEBOV" vaccine candidate. The research protocol has been accepted by the Geneva Scientific Research Ethics Commission, the WHO Research Ethics Review Committee and Swissmedic.
